•ESI CONVERTS EXISTING DIESEL ENGINES TO NATURAL GAS BY MANUFACTURING THE ENGINE FROM THE BLOCK UP (MORE DETAIL LATER).  WE LITERALLY EVOLVE THE DIESEL ENGINE INTO A NATURAL GAS ENGINE, AS THIS SLIDE DEPICTS. WE ARE CURRENTLY WORKING WITH INTERNATIONAL ENGINE CORES.
•BRIEF HISTORY:
•EARLY WORK ON THIS CONVERSION CONCEPT WAS ACCOMPLISHED BY OUR CTO, JIM BURKHART, SEVERAL YEARS AGO, ON MY SHOP FLOOR AT TRANSTAR(A SUB OF ENSERCH) IN DALLAS. HE CONVERTED A DT 466 INTERNATIONAL LEGEND ENGINE TO NATURAL GAS.
•THIS LED TO EPA AND CARB CERTIFICATION OF THAT ENGINE IN 2001 (EPA-ULEV CERT OF CONFORMITY; CARB-EXECUTIVE ORDER); THAT ENGINE GENERATED 640 LB-FT OF TORQUE @ 1800 RPM AND DEVELOPED 250 HP, AND IT WAS CERTIFIED TO 1.4 G/BHPHR NOx.
•CONCURRENTLY AT TRANSTAR, WE RECEIVED $3.5M OF CMAQ FUNDS TO CONVERT 100 COCA COLA TRUCKS TO CNG.  WE ONLY DID FOUR DUE TO THE ACQUISITION OF ENSERCH BY TXU, AND THIS PROJECT WAS NOT COMPLETED.  HOWEVER, THESE FOUR TRUCKS ARE OPERATING IN THE COKE FLEET SUCCESSFULLY TODAY.
•IN LATE 2002 ESI WAS INCORPORATED, AND IN EARLY 2004,  WE BEGAN DEVELOPMENT OF THE NEWER GENERATION OF THE ENGINE DESCRIBED ABOVE, WHICH WE HAVE SUCCESSFULLY ACCOMPLISHED. WE HAVE RECEIVED EPA CERTIFICATION (DISCUSS LATER). WE ARE NOW WORKING ON THE EIGHT-CYLINDER VERSION, AND WE SHOULD BE GOING TO SwRI APP MID-NOV FOR ENGINE TESTING PRIOR TO SUBMITTAL TO EPA AND CARB FOR CERTIFICATION OF THAT ENGINE.
•WE ARE ALSO CURRENTLY EVALUATING A PROPANE ENGINE PLATFORM, AND WE WILL ALSO CONSIDER THE CONVERSION OF OTHER DIESEL ENGINES TO GASEOUS FUELS AS WE GO FORWARD.
